SAVE LIVES IN IRAN

AMID A DEEPENING HUMANITARIAN EMERGENCY, we are urgently raising funds to support Iranian people seriously injured in the crackdown that followed nationwide protests. Many cannot afford life-saving medical treatment, or cannot safely access hospital care, and are forced to be treated at home and in hiding.

We are a close circle of family and community members, working through trusted relatives and medical contacts in Tehran to provide critical aid.

Funds are used for antibiotics, wound care, surgery, and other essential medical supplies, and 100% of donations go directly to those in urgent need.

INDIVIDUALS WE’RE HELPING — READ THEIR STORIES:

REZA

“Reza”, 20 years old, is the youngest child in his family. He has four older sisters and lives with one of them, along with his parents. His father owns a pickup truck and worked as a laborer using the vehicle, but due to diabetes and declining eyesight, he has been unable to work for the past three years and had rented out the truck instead.

After finishing high school, Reza began working with that pickup truck to help cover the family’s living expenses. However, as economic conditions worsened and prices continued to rise daily, Reza, like many young people with no clear future and limited options, decided to take to the streets to protest.

On January 8, in Karaj, while security forces were shooting protesters in the eyes or the genital area, Reza was struck by a bullet just a few inches higher in his leg.

In the first surgery, a vein was taken from his healthy leg and grafted onto the injured one in an attempt to save it. Sadly, the leg began to turn black, and doctors were initially forced to amputate his toes. Despite repeated efforts, Reza ultimately underwent 14 surgeries, and his leg was completely amputated. Tragically, this final amputation took place on February 10, Reza’s 20th birthday.

Reza’s medical expenses to date have exceeded $20,000. Part of this amount was covered by his father after selling the family’s pickup truck, and another portion was paid with the help of you, our dear supporters. However, high costs remain unpaid and must be settled before his discharge.

We urgently need continued support for this hero so that, with your help, we can remain by Reza’s side and support him and his family throughout the remainder of his treatment and recovery.

ARMAN

"Arman", 20 years old, came to Tehran from a small city in western Iran due to his father’s financial difficulties, in order to work as a laborer and help support his family. He has a younger sister and brother, and their mother left the family because of their economic hardship.

On January 7, in western Tehran, he joined several friends in a street protest, during which he was struck by approximately 600 pellets fired by Iranian security forces. As a result of severe internal bleeding, he fell into a coma for two days. Since regaining consciousness, he has undergone four surgical operations, and approximately 350 pellets have been removed from his body.

At present, his digestive system has been severely damaged, and his large intestine has been connected to a colostomy bag to allow for bowel function. Unfortunately, around 250 pellets still remain in his body, posing life-threatening damage to his heart. He is currently under close medical supervision due to a severe infection, and further surgeries are expected in the near future.

Arman’s father is a farmer who, due to financial hardship and the cost of his son’s medical treatment, has sold his land and now works as a laborer to support both Arman’s recovery and his family of four.

When we first became aware of this family’s situation, Arman had been unable for an entire week to afford basic medical necessities, including changing his dressings, purchasing colostomy bags, or buying antibiotics. Thanks to your support, Arman and his family are not alone, and we hope for his complete recovery.

OMID

“Omid”, 19 years old, is the only child in his family. After finishing high school, he decided not to attend university due to financial difficulties and instead began working 60 hours a week. On some nights, he was forced to walk for more than an hour to get home because he could not afford transportation.

When Omid was asked why he went to the streets to protest, he said: “Not only did I see no future for myself, but I was also witnessing my parents’ financial struggles. It was not right to become poorer every day while those in power grow richer through corruption and theft.”

On January 7, Omid went to Aryashahr in Tehran to protest with his parents. Twenty minutes later, a bullet fired by Iranian security forces pierced his side and severely damaged his kidney. At the same time, he was struck by hundreds of pellets in the abdominal area. His parents immediately rushed him to the hospital, where he was taken into surgery. Due to the extent of his injuries, doctors were forced to remove one of his kidneys and his spleen.

At present, Omid’s abdomen remains open and unstable, but due to a severe infection, further surgical procedures cannot yet be performed. At the time we became familiar with this family, Omid’s father, overwhelmed by medical debts, had been forced to leave his family and live in hiding, making it impossible to continue Omid’s treatment due to lack of funds.

With your generous support, part of the father’s debt has been paid, allowing him to return to his family, and Omid’s medical treatment has resumed. Although he now lives without one kidney and his spleen, he is currently under medical care. His infection has significantly decreased, and his surgeries are expected to continue in the coming weeks. Thanks to your support, Omid and his family are not alone, and we hope for his complete recovery.

RAMIN

"Ramin", 20 years old, entered university two years ago. Alongside his studies, he started working in order to be able to cover his university expenses. After two years, due to the worsening economic conditions, he decided to drop out of university so that instead of spending money on tuition, he could help support his father.

Ramin went out on January 7 with his girlfriend and several friends to protest the current economic situation in Iran, hoping that their voices might be heard. However, he was struck by two bullets in his right lower leg.

As government forces were searching for injured protesters in order to arrest them, his friends took him to a student dormitory. Due to the heavy bleeding and also concerns for the safety of other students, the dormitory manager asked them to take him out. After contacting a psychological counselor, two days later, Ramin was referred to us. We immediately contacted trusted doctors and transferred him to a hospital and then to the operating room.

In the first surgery, a vascular graft was performed in an attempt to restore blood flow and save his leg. Unfortunately, the toes on Ramin’s foot, which had turned black, did not recover, and the doctors were forced to amputate them. Because the main artery and muscle tissue had been destroyed, and due to the two-day delay, Ramin has so far undergone five surgeries. Ultimately, his leg was amputated below the knee.

With your support, the medical expenses from Ramin’s third surgery has been covered by us, and we hope that with your continued help, we can stay by this hero’s side and support his family until his full recovery.
